📊 Season Watch
Offensive Coordinator Impact (Theme D)
The Detroit Lions announced the hiring of Drew Petzing as offensive coordinator, joining the Lions in 2026 after spending the previous three seasons (2023-25) as the Arizona Cardinals' offensive coordinator. Over the duration of his three seasons leading Arizona's offense, the Cardinals ranked second in the NFL in rushing average (4.92) and were ninth in rushing yards (6,399). Early returns have been positive: Quarterback Jared Goff said "The best thing he's done so far is build something tailored to the guys we have. It may be something he loves, and if it doesn't fit for us, he won't do it."
🦁 Lions History & All-Time Greats
27 Years Since the Last Playoff Victory
Hall of Fame running back Barry Sanders of the Detroit Lions carried the football during the Lions 38-6 victory over the Dallas Cowboys in the 1991 NFC Divisional Playoff Game on January 5, 1992—that remains the last time the Lions won a playoff game. It's been a bittersweet legacy: When Barry retired after the 1998 season, Sanders had amassed 15,269 yards rushing, and he was elected to the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2004. One of the game's most electrifying runners, Barry Sanders rushed for more than 1,000 yards in each of his 10 seasons with the Detroit Lions (1989-1998), and he was the first running back ever to do so. Sanders' legacy—and that January 1992 playoff win—remain a touchstone for what greatness looks like in Honolulu blue.
